LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON ROAD

all the slide paths * from ksl.com

The canyon road I drive on everyday, SR 210, is the most active avalanche area in North America. We often will have to close the road and interlodge our 4 hotels while Snow Safety and UDOT "shoot". Snowbird/Alta/UDOT have the highest amount of artillery rounds of any free group in the world. You can see Snow Safety shoot here http://www.snowbird.com/video/january6_2008.html

Awesome stuff. Little Pine fell last week, naturally, covering the road for about 4 hours. Mt Superior is the most active chute in North America and hovers right above one of our parking lots. Us in Public Safety are in charge of closing it when there is a high avalanche danger. This falls about twice a year, and 10 years ago it slid during a busy day putting 130 cars under 20 feet of snow.
