FALL TIME IN UTAH

I arrived in Utah late September, just in time for the leaves to turn. I went on a few hikes and brought along my camera. I wish I could have gone out on a few more hikes but the snow came in Mid-October and covered up the trails.

  • INDIAN TRAIL (OGDEN)
The Indian Trail follows much of the old path that the Shoshoni Indians used to get over the rocky "narrows" near the mouth of Ogden Canyon and thereby avoid high water at the mouth of the Canyon (REF: Weberpathways.org). This hike was awesome, taking you over a couple foot bridges and along a tiny creek.

  • WHITE PINE/RED PINE TRAIL (LITTLE COTTONWOOD CYN)
I drove by this trail head going to work everyday and finally decided to stop and hike before driving 2 miles to work. This trail gives you a fantastic view of the canyon road and eventually winds you to the backside of the mountain where you can choose to go to White Pine or Red Pine lakes. I didn't get to make it that far, work was calling my name. However, this summer I plan on doing the 6 hour round trip hike.

**This is also an area that is most susceptible to avalanches in the winter, see Little Cottonwood Canyon Rd blog
